Increased income tolerance limit alongside AFP
From January 1, 2025, the income tolerance limit for how much you can earn alongside AFP (Contractual pension) increased from NOK 15,000 to NOK 32,247 (0.26 G).
The change applies to members of the pension scheme for the pharmacy sector (POA) and certain members of the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
The tolerance amount and income limit are not the same
When you apply for AFP (Contractual pension) from POA, you state how much you expect to earn alongside your AFP. Many believe that the tolerance amount is a limit on how much you can earn, but it is not. The tolerance amount is the difference between the income you have stated you will have and what you actually earn throughout the year.
Keep track of how much you earn throughout the year
If you believe your income will deviate by more than 0.26 G (G stands for the National insurance basic amount), NOK 32,247 as of 2024, from the income you have stated, you must notify us in writing. We will then calculate a new pension rate for AFP and adjust the pension payment from the date you notify us. For example, if you earn NOK 35,000 more than expected, the entire income will be the basis when we calculate your new AFP.
We only adjust payments going forward. If you have received too much or too little AFP over time, we will review this in a settlement when the tax return for the entire income year is available.
See how to notify us and examples of income and AFP for members of POA (in Norwegian).
