Retirement pension for former members

If you change jobs and begin to work for an employer that doesn’t have an occupational pension with us, you are no longer a member. You may, however, still be entitled to retirement pension from us, but you will no longer be entitled to a public contractual pension (AFP).

You can log in to calculate your retirement pension and see how much pension you have earned. All pension accrual with us and other public pension funds in Norway are recorded.

If you find any errors or omissions in your registered work history, you must contact your former employer/employers. It is the employer who must correct any mistakes.

Work outside of Norway

Membership in a state occupational pension in a EU/EEA country, can count towards your membership time with us. Read more about working abroad

Your pension depends on your birth year

Your retirement pension will be paid for as long as you live. How your pension is calculated depends on several things, including:

  • the year you were born
  • how long you have been a member with us and other public pension schemes
  • when you first became a member
  • whether you worked full-time or part-time
  • your salary

The rules are different for people born in 1962 or earlier, and those born in 1963 or later. There are also differences in how pension earnings before and after 2020 are handled. Read about the differences below.

You should know that….

  • if you change jobs and leave the public sector, you are not entitled to AFP (contractual pension).
  • your pension rights before you retire is regulated by the average wage growth in Norway. This means that your pension rights with us will maintain value over time.
